Natuna – Tingkat Kesehatan Terumbu Karang di Kabupaten Natuna ternyata memiliki status sedang. Fakta ini terungkap dari hasil monitoring Sumberdaya Hayati oleh Tim dari Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan UMRAH (FIKP UMRAH) di Kabupaten Natuna, Senin(2/7) hingga Sabtu (7/7). Di Natuna, Tim FIKP UMRAH melakukan monitoring kesehatan ekosistem terumbu karang, padang lamun, dan hutan bakau.

Tim FIKP UMRAH yang terdiri dari dosen-dosen lintas Jurusan dan Pengelola Labor Fakultas langsung dipimpin oleh Dekan FIKP UMRAH, Dr. Agung Dhamar Syakti, M.Sc sebagai Penanggung Jawab. Kegiatan monitoring ini sendiri sudah dilakukan bersama dengan Pusat Penelitian Oseanografi LIPI sejak Tahun 2015.

Dari Hasil monitoring dijumpai fakta bahwa kesehatan Terumbu karang Kabupaten Natuna berstatus sedang, dimana didominasi kelompok Non Acropora, Acropora, soft coral, sponge, rumput laut, dan biota asosiasi terumbu karang seperti Kima, bintang laut biru, bintang laut mahkota duri, lola, siput drupella, teripang dan bulu babi serta terdapat 77 spesies ikan karang.

Jika dilihat dari segi Pariwisata Bahari, kondisi perairan laut di Kabupaten Natuna sangat jernih dengan sedimen berpasir putih, tingkat kecerahan dan jarak pandang dalam perairannya yang tinggi membuat keindahan panorama bawah laut dapat terlihat dengan jelas.

“Hal ini dapat menjadi potensi wisata snorkeling dan menyelam” ujar Dedy Kurniawan, salah satu dosen yang turut serta dalam Tim.

Ada banyak hal dan fakta yang diungkap dari hasil monitoring ini, salah satunya adalah banyaknya kima  yang ditemukan di Terumbu Karang pada perairan Natuna bagian barat. Kima  sendiri merupakan hewan yang dilindungi.

“Kawasan di sekitar Terumbu karang di perairan Natuna bagian barat ini dapat dikonservasi dengan menjadikan lokasi tersebut  taman kima untuk menjaga kelestarian kima kedepan” Ujar Dekan FIKP UMRAH, Agung Dhamar Syakti.

Fakta lainnya juga di padang lamun Natuna ini ditemukan empat spesies lamun dengan dengan kesehatan sedang. Selain itu, Hutan bakau di Natuna ini ternyata memiliki sembilan spesies hutan bakau dengan status kesehatan yang baik.

“Hutan bakau yang lebat dengan alur-alur perairan didalamnya dapat membuat hutan bakau itu menjadi objek wisata” Ujar Dosen MSP UMRAH, Dr. Febrianti Lestari Team Leader Bidang Mangrove yang turut serta dalam tim.

Di sela-sela monitoring, Dekan FIKP UMRAH, Agung Dhamar Syakti juga melakukan silaturahim kepada jajaran Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Kabupaten Natuna, Pelabuhan Perikanan Selat Lampa KKP RI, serta bertemu Kepala Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Natuna untuk mengembangkan jejaring FIKP UMRAH agar dapat berkontribusi untuk Natuna sebagai bagian dari Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi.
