Indonesia merupakan negara maritim yang artinya wilayah lautnya lebih besar dari wilayah daratan Letak Indonesia yang strategis menjadikan Indonesia sebagai jalur silang pelayaran dunia yang dapat menimbukan keuntungan dan kerugian dalam hal pertahanan dan keamanan NKRI.

Program Studi Ilmu Kelautan Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji bersama dengan Program Studi Strategi Kampanye Militer Universitas Pertahanan Republik Indonesia menggelar Webinar Series ke 2 dengan tema “Peran Oseanografi dalam Mendukung Sistem pertahanan dan Keamanan NKRI” pada Jum’at, 19 Juni 2020 melalui aplikasi zoom meeting dan siaran langsung melalui kanal YouTube.

Webinar ini merupakan seminar ilmiah yang menghadirkan pakar tentang bagaimana peranan dan penggunaan oseanografi dalam mempertahankan keamanan dan keutuhan NKRI. Hadir sebagai narasumber yakni Letkol Laut Dr. Gentio Harsono, ST, M.Si, Dosen tetap Program Studi Studi Strategi Kampanye Militer Universitas Pertahanan Republik Indonesia.

Acara dibuka oleh Plt. Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji, Azwin Apriandi, S.Pi, M.Si.  Dalam sambutannya. Plt.Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji menyampaikan Jika bicara tentang isu keamanan dan pertahanan NKRI, maka Kepulauan Riau merupakan wilayah yang strategis karena laut Kepulauan Riau berbatasan langsung dengan beberapa negara tetangga, diantaranya adalah Singapura, Vietnam, Malaysia dan China.

“semoga acara ini memberikan manfaat dan memberikan kita penambahan wawasan kita tentang peran oseanografi dalam mendukung sistem pertahanan dan keamanan NKRI”. Ucapnya

Webinar ini dipandu oleh Try Febrianto, S.Pi, M.Si selaku moderator.

Letkol Laut Gentio sebagai narasumber menyampaikan bahwa beberapa data oseanografi yang digunakan untuk pertahanan NKRI diantaranya adalah Bathimetri dan Multibeam untuk mendeteksi kedalaman dan profil dasar laut, ADCP yang dilengkapi dengan CTD dan Niskin Bottle untuk melihat karakteristik air, profil arus dan mengambil sampel air, sistem mooring yang dapat dilengkapi dengan alat-alat lainnya yang digunakan untuk melihat kondisi kolom air yang stasioner secara time series, melakukan survey pola pergerakan plankton, ikan dan crustacea yang terkadang mengganggu kapal-kapal akibat gerakan strabulasi maupun sonar dari biota-biota tersebut,

Selain itu data oseanografi digunakan untuk penentuan titik dasar garis pangkal batas maritim antar Negara. Selain itu oseanografi juga digunakan untuk melihat trasnsparansi air atau visibility laut yang sangat penting untuk kapal selam karena sangat berbahaya ketika terlihat oleh helikopter anti-kapal selam yang akhirnya akan mudah dilacak.

Selain itu dalam hal keamanan, saat berperang juga menggunakan data oseanografi diantaranya adalah data pasang surut, kedalaman, inventarisasi biota dan flourescence untuk pendaratan amphibi, dan profil gradien pantai dan gelombang untuk mobilisasi prajurit.

Webinar ini diakhiri dengan pesan dari Letkol Laut Gentio untuk saling menjaga pertahanan dan keamanan NKRI dan loyalitas terhadap Negara harus nomor satu apapun pekerjaan kita. Ketua prodi Ilmu Kelautan Aditya Hikmat Nugraha, S.I.K, M.Si mengatakan Weinar ini diikuti oleh sekitr 500 peserta yang antusias dari berbagai institusi di seluruh Indonesia (ipp).
