Selasa 24 Agustus 2021 telah dilaksanakan kegiatan Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) Tahun 2021. Kegiatan tersebut diselenggarakan secara virtual mengingat kondisi saat ini yang masih berada dalam pandemi covid-19. Terdapat sebanyak 150 mahasiswa baru yang bergabung dengan Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan pada tahun ini.

Acara PKKMB ini dibuka langsung oleh Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan Dr.Ir.T. Ersti Yulika Sari, S.Pi, M.Si, dalam sambutanya beliau menyampaikan selamat datang dan selamat bergabung kepada mahasiswa baru di Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan.

Selain itu juga dihadapan mahasiswa baru beliau mengatakan bahwa Provinsi Kepulauan Riau yang memiliki wilayah lautan hingga 98% masih perlu dieksplorasi dan  membutuhkan sumbedaya manusia untuk mengoptimalkan itu. Hal itu menjadi tugas anda semua di masa yang akan datang. Selain itu juga pada acara PKKMB ini mahasiswa diberikan penjelasan terkait bidang akademik, kemahasiswaan, uang kuliah tunggal (UKT) dan fasilitas kampus.

Selain itu juga dalam kesempatan ini juga mahasiswa baru diberikan penjelasan mengenai kegiatan  Gerakan Nasional Revolusi Mental. Kegiatan tersebut merupakan kerjasama antara Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji bersama Kementeriaan Koordinator Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan. Pada PKKMB ini juga diadakan acara virtual campus tour dimana mahasiswa baru diajak mengelilingi kampus FIKP UMRAH secara virtual. Pada siang harinya dilakukan sesi sharing bersama alumni FIKP UMRAH.
